Uganda’s only representative in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League Vipers SC is set to add more fire power ahead of the January transfer window.
Speaking about the future club preparations, Vipers coach Roberto Olivieira said that he has an upcoming meerting with the club president, Dr Lawrence Mulindwa soon.
And this meeting will specifically focus on plans of reinforcing the club ahead of the CAF Champions League which the Kitende based side qualified for for the first time after eliminating DR Congo side TP Mazembe.
“I think for the Champions League we have an opportunity to use the January transfer window to reinforce our team. I have an important meeting with the club president Lawrence Mulindwa before the end of the year about this, I trust the president very much and i love the club and fans so let’s hope for the best” he stated.
Robetinho was also asked about the possibility of facing former Vipers forward Cesar Manzoki in the CAF Champions League and he said that it is no big probnlem.
It should be noted that after baging the golden boot and best player award in the 2021/22 Uganda Premier League, Manzoki departed the Venoms for Chinese side Dalian.
However, rumors have it that he’s already signed a pre contract to join Tanzanian giants Simba in January.
The Msimbazi were heavily linked to him while he was still in Vipers but the November UPL coach of the month sees this as no big problem.
All top players are always wanted by top clubs, i don’t know if Cesar joined Simba because i read papers in Tanzania and they’ve been saying this for a while but if it is true then it’s fine, i wish him all the best and we shall definitely do well even though he will be playing against us” he concluded.
Meanwhile Vipers currently sit in the second spot on th 15 team log two points behind KCCA.
Vipers would have gone top of the table yesterday but were held to a 1-1 draw by Express at Muteesa II Stadium.
