FUFA suspends linesman who canceled SC Villa’s goal against BUL FC
February 25, 2023
FUFA has not only stopped at its controversial decision of having the already concluded game between Villa and BUL to be replayed, it has also banned assistant referee Muyanga Khalid.
Muyanga Khalid is the one who made the offside call as BUL beat SC Villa in the round of 32 clash in the Stanbic Uganda cup.
SC Villa thought they had equalized through Charles Bbale after Ronald Otti’s goal for the soap makers.
However Muyanga flagged Bbale for being offside and Villa got eliminated.
FUFA however today ordered for the game to be replayed at a later date that will be communicated.
The CDP hereby orders that the Stanbic Uganda Cup match #33 between BUL FC and SC Villa be replayed. Each party shall cater for its own costs for preparation of the match.
The Competitions Department is directed to fix a date for this replay.
FUFA in it’s report said that Muyanga failed to justify his decision.
He was therefore suspended from officiating at all different levels of football in the country for 6 months.
He is hereby sanctioned with;
1. A suspension from officiating football at all levels for six months for unjustified extraordinary incorrect decision that affected the result of the match. The suspension comes into force immediately.
And when these six months expire, Muyanga won’t be allowed to officiate in the first division of football and the Uganda cup in the 2023-24 season.
2. After the expiry of six months, Mr. Muyaga Khalid shall not be allowed to officiate in the 1st Division League and Uganda Cup tournament the following season.
