Shafik Kagimu set for a move in Kenya

March 18, 2023

Former URA Captain and attacking midifielder Shafiq Kuchi Kagimu is set for a new move in Kenya to Gor Mahia.

This comes after him (Kagimu) partying ways with URA FC in February on mutual Consert.

At Gor Mahia, Shafik Kagimu will reunite with former coach Jonathan McKinstry who once had a stint at Uganda Cranes.

During his stay at the national team, McKinstry preferred Kagimu in the attacking midifield role.

Shafik Kagimu who joined URA in 2015 from Water FC had some misunderstandings with the club that even forced the club to underutilize him in the first round.

The misunderstandings are estimated to have arosen from the salary cut proposal that was brought by the club which Kagimu didn’t agree with.

URA had suggested that all players had to accept salary cuts because of the poor performance of the team which Kagimu and other some players couldn’t accept.

Other players that were on the course were Joachim Ojera, Derrick Nsibambi and George Senkaaba.

All the players left the club since the club couldn’t deal with them at the moment.

Nsibambi left for Turkey, Senkaaba left for Kitara while Ojera left for Rwanda’s side Rayon Sports on loan.

At Gor Mahia, Kagimu is set to work with country mate Patrick Kaddu who earlier joined the club in January.

Gor Mahia are currently on top of Kenyan Premier League with 42 points from 20 games.
