Uganda Cranes match winner Rogers Mato speaks up on fulfilling his dream

KCCA forward Rogers Kassim Mato was the difference maker last night as the Uganda Cranes edged hosts Tanzania at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium.

The youngster scored from an assist by Farouk Miya to grab a much needed 3 points and cool the pressure off headcoach Micho.

Mato has now spoken about fulfilling his dream.

The striker said that it was always a dream of his as a kid to feature and score for the National team.

Mato who came on in the 63rd minute for Captain Emma Okwi scored in the 91st minute.

“I am really happy, it’s a dream come true. Once I dreamt of scoring for Uganda Cranes at such a big occasions. I can’t express the happiness in me but I am really happy for helping Uganda win this game.” 

“Actually before the match I was pushing for a colleague Isma Mugulusi that you are the one to win for us this match. He was the one starting ahead of me. But little did I know that God will answer my prayers as I scored the winning goal. I thank God for guiding me to help the team win such a crucial game,” Rodgers Mato said.

The Cranes are now left with Algeria at home and Niger away.

Meanwhile Tanzania also has the same opponents and each country has to win their games while hoping the other falters.

Apparently both Uganda and Tanzania are tied on 4 points with a -2 goal difference.

Meanwhile FUFA president Eng Moses Magogo is expected to deliver some headlines in tomorrow’s press conference.
