Vipers looking to bounce back after defeat to SC Villa
May 2, 2023
Kitende based side Vipers SC will be looking to bounce back to winning ways as they host Gaddafi today at St Mary’s Kitende. The Venoms were beaten over the weekend by title contenders SC Villa 1-0 at the Muteesa II stadium in Wankulukuku.
Speaking ahead of this game, Vipers captain Milton Karisa expressed his optimism. The skipper expects his teammates to walk away with maximum points by the end of the 90 minutes.
“A successful season is how we respond to disappointment,” started Karisa while speaking to Vipers Media.
“We have to respond quickly because we have tricky fixtures ahead of us,” he added.
Karisa also talked about the impressive run that his side were on before faltering to the Jogoos. They were unbeaten in 5 games, winning 3 and drawing 2.
“We had a very strong run before Saturday so we just want to continue that. We need to respond strongly and immediately. Tomorrow gives us a chance and we are hopeful.
It should be recalled that Alex Isabirye’s side were beaten 1-0 in the first leg in Jinja. The solo goal was scored by Alex Kitata but the former BUL FC tactician hadn’t taken over the reins in Kitende.
A win will affirm Vipers position in the third position. They will go to 42 points, 4 behind table leaders who have 46. Vipers have also played 3 games less.
Alex Isabirye wont be with defender Livingston Mulondo who suffered a nasty injury in the game against Villa. Murushid Juuko, Marvin Joseph Youngman, Yunus Sentamu and Alfred Mudekereza who are long term absentees won’t be available for selection while others are there.
