FUFA bans KCCA striker Kakonde for rest of the season

May 11, 2023

The FUFA Disciplinary committee has handed KCCA FC’s striker Simon Tshisungu Kakonde an 8 match ban. And this means that his season is over as there are just 6 games remaining for the Kasasiro Boys.

Kakonde’s suspension will therefore also be translated to the 2023/24 season. FUFA banned him for 6 matches and the 2 matches by the referee Mashood Ssali makes it 8. Kakonde’s suspension starts immediately.

Further the Congolese striker will also have to pay a fine of one million shillings. This will be effected at the end of his suspension and he will be ineligible until he does so.

“The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel has suspended Kankonde Tsishungu in addition to the automatic suspension by the match official; a further suspension of six FUFA SUPL matches for breach of Article 31 of the FUFA Competition Rules. The player shall miss a total of the next eight physically played games after match 130 VIPERS SC Vs KCCA FC. The above sanction is effective immediately and shall be carried forward to the next SUPL season of 2023/2024 until the conclusion of the same. The panel has also fined Kankonde UGX 1,000,000 and it is to be paid by completion of his entire suspension. He shall be ineligible until payment of the fine.”

It should be noted that the KCCA Centre forward punched center referee, Mashood Ssali. This was at the end of the Lugogo based side’s 1-0 loss to Vipers in the chaotic encounter at St Mary’s Kitende last week.

Jackson Mayanja‘s remaining 4 games are against Express and Busoga United at home. The other two games are against BUL and Soltilo Bright Stars on the road.
