KCCA FC appoint former Benefica manager as new coach

Kampala Capital City Authority FC (KCCA FC) has appointed former Benefica coach Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil as their new coach.

According to a statement released by the club on social media, Sergio replaces Jackson Mayanja who has been the club’s interim manager.

The Portuguese joins the 13 time league champions on a 2 year deal. He holds a UEFA A license and is currently pursuing a UEFA Pro License

Apparently, he started his career as a youth manager of Sports Lisboa e Benefica in Portugal. Later he would join Nigeria’s Kaduna United.

Sergio has coached number of teams in different African countries such as Ghana, Tanzania, Mozambique among others

According to the statement by the Kasasiro Boys, the club will benefit a lot from him especially due to his high level of experience.

Sergio is expected to take office starting on the 1st of July 2023.

Sergio, a Portuguese by birth started his coaching career at Sports Lisboa e

Benfica where he was in charge of the Club’s youth teams before joining

Kaduna United in Nigeria.

He has previously coached at Hearts of Oak (Ghana). Singida Big Stars

(Tanzania), CD Lunda Sul (Angola), Vilankulos (Mozambique), Mirbat SC

(Oman). Kabuscorp SC (Angola). Santa Rita CFC (Angola) and recently

Township Rollers FC (Botswana).

KCCA Football Club will benefit greatly from Sergio’s extensive expertise. high standards of excellence, and character. He is a successful coach who has worked at the highest levels, in a number of different leagues on the continent but most importantly conforms to the Club’s DNA of playing beautiful football and Youth Development.

The Manager is expected to take charge effective 1st July 2023.”
