End of the road for Angel Di Maria and Argentina

Benefica Winger Angel Di Maria has announced how it’s almost over for him and the Argentina national team. The footballer who is now 35 years old revealed that he’s set to retire from the national team after next year’s Copa America.

The ex Real Madrid, Manchester United, PSG and Juventus player said that he even told his best friend and national team captain, Leo Messi about this decision. Additionally El Fideo said that he achieved his biggest dream of playing alongside Messi at club level. And this was achieved when the two linked up in Paris.

“I will leave Argentina national team after Copa América. It’s over for me”, he told Todo Pasa. “I hugged Messi at PSG and told him: the only thing I’m grateful for is to have been able to play with you in a club, to be able to see you every day”.

Apparently, the right winger has been one of the best players of the La Abiceleste. And he will go down in history. Di Maria has been able to win every trophy at Argentina.

Together with Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, they was able to lift the 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada. Together they also won gold in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Additionally he was also part of the Argentinean team which fell short of glory in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The 2015 and 2016 Copa America finals.

However, they bounced back to win the Copa America in 202 in Brazil. With Di Maria scoring the only goal of the final. He was again instrumental as the South American country lifted the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.

The Rosario born attacker scored Lionel Scaloni’s team’s second goal. Without a doubt his name will forever be etched in Argentina football folklore. Angel Di Maria has so far scored 29 goals for Argentina.
