Discipline remains a major problem amongst players in the Uganda Premier League with the latest being Busoga United captain Charles Sunday Mulanda who ended up assaulting the referee.

This was as Busoga United played Gaddafi FC in the Uganda Premier League. Mulanda apparently was shown a yellow card in the 7th minute after a foul on a former teammate, Rashid Mpata.

In the dying minutes of the game, Gaddafi was awarded a free kick by the ref. This angered Mulanda who ended up getting a second yellow and eventually given his marching orders.

An infuriated Charles Mulanda ended up headbutting the referee before his teammates calmed him down. Without a doubt, he faces a lengthy ban for this appalling behaviour.

However, he’s come out to apologize saying that this was caused by the intensity of the game. And he felt that the referee’s decision wasn’t fair. Therefore he asked for a lenient punishment that won’t affect his career.

Meanwhile Busoga United went ahead to win the game 1-0 courtesy of an Isaac Doka Mweru’s fist half goal.
