Former Uganda Cranes international reveals how teammates fought over Adebayor’s shirt

Former Uganda Cranes international Savio Kabugo has revealed how his former national teammates fought over Togolese striker, Emmanuel Adebayor’s shirt and boots.

Apparently this was after the game between Togo and Uganda in the 2014 AFCON qualifiers. After the game, the Cranes players went to their dressing room.

Adebayor came to the room amd put his jersey and boots down on the floor. He signalled to where they were seated to one of them to come and pick them up.

However, two players rushed to pick them up but Adebayor stopped them in their tracks. The former Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Real Madrid striker said that he meant shirt 16 and this was none other than Savio Kabugo.

“After this game adebayor walked in our dressing room and put he’s jersey and playing boots down the floor and pointed where we were seated for one of us to go for it and 2 players rushed to pick the kits and he said noo i meant shirt 16 and i was the 16.”

The defender went and picked them up and this was a dream come true. Later on the then Togolese captain sent his boys to come and pick up the Cranes players to his palace.

Unfortunately, the former KCCA and SC Villa player had slept off. When the players got there, the first thing Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor asked for was shirt 16.

Unfortunately, the Cranes lost that game 1-0 and ended up not playing in the AFCON tournament. Their breakthrough would later come in 2017 under now sacked coack Milutin Sredojevich aka Micho.
