Here are the 10+ times Cristiano Ronaldo has disrespected Lionel Messi

November 6, 2023

Fans have over the years have become embedded in the Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo GOAT debate. This debate in fact is like a cult and has had several people dedicating their lives to it.

Well it has not only been embodied by fans but also footballers as well as other celebrities. The “Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo?” question is a common one on sporting and entertainment circles.

It also seems that the Portuguese footballer has also been consumed by the comparison. Whereas the Argentinean has always spoken professionally, respectfully and with a great admiration for his rival, the same can’t be said about Ronaldo.

In fact the former Real Madrid’s player’s family members most notably his sister Katya Aveiro have also joined in this battle. She’s always seen on different Ronaldo fan accounts trashing Messi’s achievements.

The current Al Nasr footballer has not just once but over 10 times disrespected Messi. Apparently, whatever Cristiano dreamed of achieving, the Argentinean.

Talking to English journalist, Piers Morgan in 2017, Ronaldo said that he wishes to finish with at least 7-8 Ballon D’ors and above Messi. This is because he believes he deserves it and should have it.

But at almost the pinnacle of their careers, Messi has 3 more. When Messi won his third Ballon d’Or in 2011, the ex Man United forward said that he doesn’t care about awards voted on people’s opinions.

And he added that his golden boot was better because it’s achieved with goals. By the time they both left Europe, Messi had 6 European golden boots compared to the 38 year old’s 4.

Besides, Ronaldo also expressed his wish to win the World Cup with Portugal. Instead it was the 36 year old Inter Miami captain that lifted the trophy Argentina in Qatar last year.

Almost everything the Portuguese has dreamed of winning, the Argentine has instead achieved it. It’s no wonder therefore that Ronaldo has made it a point to demean Lionel Messi’s achievements either directly or indirectly.

It’s fair to say that La Pulga put the debate that shouldn’t have existed in the first place to bed with his magic on the pitch. And he’s the undisputed GOAT in this debate.

Messi can only be compared with the likes of Diego Armando Maradona and Luis Do Nascimnto Pele.
