Arsenal Fans Having The Last Laugh After PSG ‘Robs’ Newcastle

November 29, 2023

Arsenal fans on social media have had the last laugh after PSG ‘robbed’ Newcastle United in the UEFA Champions League. The English Premier League side took the lead through Alexander Isak in the 24th minute.

Apparently the Magpies looked on course for a memorable double over the Parisians until the last minute of the game. An Ousmane Dembele cross hit Tino Livramento’s arm and PSG got awarded a penalty.

However, this has been dubbed a controversial and d dubious penalty. This is because the ball hit Livramento’s side body before hitting the arm. And normally this is not given as a penalty according to the rules.

A spot kick nonetheless was awarded to PSG and their captain, Kylian Mbappe made mo mistake. He sent the ball past Nick Pope grabbing a what might prove to be an important point.

If Newcastle had won, they would have gone to 7 points making qualification much easier. They however now have 5 and will play AC Milan in their last game which is a must win for them.

However, even if they win, they have to hope that PSH doesn’t beat Borussia Dortmund. The German club has already qualified after beating AC Milan at the Sam Siro by a score of 3-1.

The last spot is therefore up for grabs between PSG and Newcastle but the French club has an upper hand. Reacting to the match and the pen, Newcastle coach Eddie Howe said that it was unfair.

He felt that his players had given their all on the pitch. Only to be undone by a dubious decision. Besides, he said that he can’t comment about the match officials’ decision for fear of punishment.

It should be notes that the former Bournemouth manager recently called for punishment of managers who criticize refs. This is after Newcastle was awarded a controversial goal against Arsenal. That match ended 1-0 and is the Gunners only loss in the Premier League this season.

A furious Mikel Arteta came out and criticized the refs. But Howe who had gotten the decision in his favour deemed Arteta as a pain. Sadly he didn’t know that this would catch up with him.

And Arsenal fans haven’t forgotten. They took it upon to remind Newcastle fans and remind them of their own ‘robbery’ at St James Park
