Both 2022 champions BUL FC and nine-time Stanbic Uganda Cup winners SC Villa advanced to the round of 16. This followed wins against Synergy FC and Kyambura Rasters, respectively.
SC Villa easily defeated Masaka-based Synergy FC 5-0 at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Sunday. This saw them cruising to the round of 16.
The hosts took the lead at the half thanks to a goal from Charles Lwanga. Shortly after the break, Hakim Kiwanuka extended their lead.
Before Kiwanuka finished his brace in the 62nd minute, Peter Onzima also put his name on the score sheet in the 50th minute.
Reagan Mpande scored his first goal for the team led by Dusan Stojanovic as well. The match was headed into a penalty shootout. However Tezikya prevailed for the 2022 winners in extra time.
Blacks Power was also defeated 1-0 by Soltilo Bright Stars. And Busoga United advanced to the round of 16 with a 6-5 shootout victory following a 1-1 deadlock in regulation time.
In the final 16, holders Vipers SC, Express FC, KCCA FC, Kitara FC, Pajule Lions, Police FC, and Young Simba FC have qualified . They are joined by SC Villa, Busoga United, Bright Stars, and BUL FC. Stanbic Uganda Cup
