According to reports, Arsenal has significantly beaten Manchester United in the competition to capture Joao Gomes. While he keeps making an impression for Wolves, the 23-year-old midfielder has recently been strongly linked to a transfer to the “big six.”
Gomes has made 27 appearances in the Premier League this season. And with this, he’s helprd Gary O’Neil’s team avoid relegation. His contract at Molineux expires in 2028. It is said that several elite clubs have expressed interest in him due to his remarkable performances. This follows his move from Flamengo last summer.
Actually, Arsenal has jumped ahead of Manchester United in the competition to capture the recently capped Brazil international. This is according to the Brazilian newspaper O Dia. According to the source, the Gunners plan to start negotiations with Wolves for Gomes’ services. Apparently, this will be at the end of the current campaign.
Although he is apparently being pursued by Erik ten Hag and Mikel Arteta, the £24.2 million-rated Brazilian appears to be more interested in moving to Anfield. According to a MailOnline quote by Gomes in a 2022 interview with ESPN:-
“Liverpool are a team I’d play for. I have the greatest desire to play. Playing in the Champions League is my biggest dream in football.”
