Mbarara FC deals Kitara FC title hopes a huge blow

May 1, 2024

At Masindi Municipal Stadium on Tuesday, Seiri Arigumaho’s late header prevented Kitara FC from increasing their advantage atop the Uganda Premier League.

Ten minutes until regular time, Arigumaho leveled the score, negating Denis Omedi’s early lead.
After nine minutes, Omedi gave the home team the lead, delighting the Kitara supporters.

Despite having plenty of chances to score and increase their lead, Kitara was unable to take advantage of them.

Due to the draw, Kitara FC is now two points ahead of BUL FC and Vipers SC, who are in second place with two games remaining (one game in hand).

If Vipers or BUL FC win tomorrow’s match in Namboole, they will go to the top.

Due to the tie, Mbarara City, who presently have 30 points, are safe from relegation.

In the other Tuesday match, URA FC and Busoga United ended in a scoreless draw versus each other.

Busoga has 22 points in 26 games, which puts them three points over the red zone.

On Wednesday, the action will return with KCCA FC taking on title-chasing SC Villa and BUL playing Vipers in a tense match. Both matches will take place at the recently renovated Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
