Defending champions Vipers SC kept their title hopes alive with a 2-1 win over relegation fighting Busoga United on Tuesday at FUFA Technical centre in Njeru.
Skipper Milton Karisa and youngster Abdul Nsereko scored the two goals for the Venoms.
Emmanuel Ajo had restored hope for the hosts with a second half leveller.
Karisa opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after being fed by Allan Okello.
Ajo restore parity for the home side in the 66th minute for his eighth goal of the season.
Moments later, Nsereko who replaced Eric Kambale netted his first league goal to restore the six time Uganda Premier league champions’ lead.
Victory sees Vipers move to third place and a point behind leaders SC Villa who overcame URA FC 2-1 in their game at Wankulukuku.
With the win, Vipers climb to third position, one point behind leaders SC Villa, who defeated URA FC 2-1 at Wankulukuku.
Vipers will host Mbarara City on the last day, who crushed BUL FC’s dreams of winning the championship.
In order to avoid relegation, Busoga will be aiming for a point against BUL in the championship game at Njeru.
