Isaac Ogwang scored the all important goal as Police FC beat Kataka FC 1-0 to clinch the 2023/24 FUFA Big League title in Mbale.
Simon Peter Mugerwa’s came into the game needing just a point to cruise to the FUFA Big League title in the final game of the season.
Ogwang fired the Cops into the lead at the stroke of halftime to extend his goal tally to 14 goals.
The Cops finished top of the FUFA Big League table with 56 Points to smile to the title.
Following the match, Police FC received the trophy from FUFA Exco Member Rogers Mulindwa, who was representing FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim.
FUFA Exco Member Rogers Byamukama, FUFA Big League Delegate Hassan Kirunda, and betPawa Country Marketing Manager Ivy Igundura also graced the occasion.
In the meantime, Lugazi FC finished second on the list after defeating Jinja North FC 2-0.
The Simon Ddungu, nicknamed Dunga, coached team managed to give Jinja North the maximum number of points thanks to a brace from Sam Ssemugugu.
Lugazi had 53 points at the end of the FUFA Big League season, placing him second on the log.
Dennis Kalanzi of Police FC won the Most Valuable Player award after tallying seven goals and eleven assists.
With 12 clean sheets, Emuran Fahad of Lugazi FC was named the top goalkeeper, and Isaac Ogwang, who shared the Golden Boot with Booma’s Dickson Nuwamanya, scored 14 goals.
