Aston Villa tells Arsenal Douglas Luiz price

Douglas Luiz price. Arsenal will be active in the summer transfer window. The window is due to open this week but in truth, Arsenal have been active behind the scenes drawing up their own transfer shortlist. It is impossible for anybody but Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar to know their true intentions, but fans can hazard a pretty solid guess that a striker and midfielder will be on the radar.

The hunt for a striker goes without saying but Mikel Arteta is unlikely to neglect a midfield signing, particularly with Mohamed Elneny leaving the club and Thomas Partey potentially doing the same.

In order to accomplish this, Mikel Arteta has gone to Unai Emery, the manager at Arsenal whom he succeeded. At Aston Villa, the former manager of Arsenal is thriving and has already secured their spot in the UEFA Champions League. He has established a strong base in the West Midlands, but one player in particular has had the biggest impact on the club’s transformation.

That player is Douglas Luiz, who has become the Villans’ midfield leader this season after making tremendous progress under Unai Emery. It is therefore not surprising that Arsenal, who want to strengthen their Brazilian core, are interested in Luiz.

Douglas Luiz has been found thanks in large part to the expertise of Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar, who was a player in Brazil himself. Gaspar is the most knowledgeable person in the Premier League when it comes to scouting Brazilian talent. But what price must Arsenal pay for Luiz?

The Mirror claims that Unai Emery has given Arsenal a £50 million price quotation for Douglas Luiz. Luiz may now be up for sale as Villa looks to balance the books and adhere to Premier League regulations, having previously turned down offers for him.

Douglas Luiz appears to be the ideal player to emulate Mikel Arteta. He has a great presence on and off the ball as a deep-lying midfielder. He does a good job of holding the line and can move quickly when the ball is at his feet. Not that Arteta needs another one of those in his ranks, but every little bit helps. He is also a superb set-piece taker.
