August 7, 2024
Kitara FC made it to the semifinals of the FUFA Super 8 Tournament this year because to Denis Omedi’s incredible performance. Omedi was the standout player in KCCA FC and Kitara FC’s exciting match on Tuesday night at MTN-Omondi Stadium.
As a result of the hotly contested match ending in a three-all draw, Kitara advanced 4-3 overall.
Joel Sserunjogi beat goalie Crispus Kusiima with a curling effort from distance in the ninth minute to open the score.
Omedi leveled the score a few seconds later with an incredible Rabona kick, giving KCCA FC a brief lead.
The deadly attacker put the stadium to its feet by first rounding out defender Hassan Mahmood and then reaching the back of the net.
Kitara took the lead in the 36th minute when Omedi found Jude Ssemugabi, whose low shot found the bottom left corner. However, near the end of the half, Bright Anukani was able to tie the score from the spot after the referee determined that Ronald Otti had shoved Etienne Katenga to the ground.
Omedi’s fantastic pass off the left wing set up Ssemugabi’s second goal of the game three minutes after the break.
In the 53rd minute, defender Muhamood rose highest to head home to give KCCA FC the equalizer once more.
Despite the hosts’ best efforts in the final minutes of the match, Kitara managed to advance 4-3 overall in the FUFA Super 8 tournament.
The Royals will now play BUL FC or Maroons FC, who will play in Lugogo on Wednesday. The first leg resulted in a draw of one all.
