Ugandan sprinter Tarsis Orogot falls short in 200m semis at the Olympics

Tarsis Orogot, a sprinter from Uganda, was not able to get to the 200-meter men’s final in Paris, France, 2024.

At the Stade de France, Orogot finished sixth in his heat with a time of 20.64.

Kenny Bednarek of the US won the heat with a score of 20.00. Alexander Ogando Bautista of the Dominican Republic finished second (20.09).

Third place went to Canadian De Grasse (20.41), while Maswanganyi (20.42) from South Africa took fourth place.

Letsile Tebogo of Botswana won the second heat with a score of 19.96. The other two competitors who qualified from this heat were Makanakaishe Charamba of Zimbabwe and Noah Lyles of the United States (20.08) (20.31).

Since Davis Kamoga won a bronze medal in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Uganda has not sent a male sprinter to the games.

Uganda has won two medals at the current games: Peruth Chemutai won a silver medal in the 3000m women’s steeple chase and Joshua Cheptegei won a gold medal in the 10,000m men’s event.
