Kylian Mbappe’s X account is hacked and used to insult Messi

August 29, 2024

While Kylian Mbappé was in Spain, his X account suffered a hack in the wee hours of the morning. When his account began advertising a cryptocurrency called “$MBAPPE” and claimed to have sold 90,000 units, people took notice right away. The strange occurrence continued with a series of controversial comments, such as a transfer rumor involving Manchester United and a harsh criticism of the long-running rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The since-deleted tweets caused a stir in the football community and generated a lot of debate.

The hack saw Mbappé’s X account firing off multiple posts centred around Manchester United, including a declaration that “Manchester is Red” and even praising a popular United fan account, @UTDTrey, as “the best account on ft (football Twitter).” When a user replied whether Mbappe prefers a move to London, the hacked account wrote, “London is s*** bro.”

In a another tweet, a supporter of Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi referred to Ronaldo as “the greatest football player of all time” and disparaged Messi, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, using foul language. Given that Mbappe is now a Real Madrid player, the contentious tone of these posts simply served to intensify the already heated debates surrounding the rivalry between Ronaldo and Messi.
