Bukayo Saka Hamstring Injury Update

October 11, 2024

With a hamstring injury that forced him off the field early on Thursday night, Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has given a brief report on his condition from England’s interim head coach, Lee Carsley.

Declan Rice, a talented midfielder for Arsenal, was the only other recognized defensive-minded player chosen to start, along with Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Anthony Gordon, and the Three Lions star. The England team was relatively experimental, with a very offensive composition.

Arsenal supporters were concerned with Saka’s substitution in the 50th minute, even though England lost the game 2-1 against Greece at home and did not score until the 87th minute.

Vangelis Pavlidis, a 23-year-old sensation, turned awkwardly in the build-up to Greece’s opening goal and then looked like he was in pain after the goal was scored.

Saka was unable to finish the game and was observed limping out of Wembley Stadium, but fortunately, he was able to get by without the assistance of crutches.

Following the match, interim England manager Carsley provided a quick Saka update, saying: “He’s being assessed. Obviously in the build-up to the first goal, you could see he felt something in his leg.”

With an incredible two goals and seven assists in just seven Premier League appearances this season—more assists than any player in Europe’s top five leagues— Saka has been in outstanding form for Arsenal.

Saka is regarded by many as irreplaceable because the club does not have any other natural right-wingers after Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira left on loan during the summer transfer window. If he is sidelined for an extended length of time, it could significantly hurt Arsenal’s chances of winning this season.
