Andre Onana, the goalie for Manchester United and Cameroon, has pledged to visit Uganda again during his summer vacation.
The custodian assured Man United supporters in Uganda that he will have extra time upon his return after his country’s 1-0 victory against Kenya at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole on Monday qualified them for the 2025 AFCON Final event in Morocco.
“I am happy with the victory, happy with the way we played. It’s a big honour to play for the Cameroon national team. It’s amazing to play for this badge so you have to be well prepared.
“I want to thank the Ugandan fans for the warm welcome last time and this time, so I am very happy and hopefully in the summer, I will come back for the holidays and have more time together and do something nice. I promise I will come back.” Said Onana during a mixed zone interview with journalists at Namboole.
This time, unlike his initial visit to Uganda, Onana and company played their match against Kenya in the freshly renovated Namboole, behind closed doors.
At Entebbe Airport, some Man United supporters in Uganda were able to take selfies with the custodian, while others were just able to wave at him as the Cameroon team bus departed Namboole Stadium.
