Despite their victory over South Sudan in Juba, the Uganda Cranes will not be able to guarantee their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals until the following international break.
This comes after Congo and South Africa drew Tuesday night in Brazzaville.
As a result, Uganda maintains its lead in Group K with 10 points, two points ahead of South Africa, which is now in second place, and Congo, which is now on four points.
Paul Put’s team needs to win games against South Africa at home and Congo away in November of next year in order to guarantee their spot in Morocco come December.
If Congo loses the match against South Sudan before hosting Uganda in the last group match, they can still qualify without earning any more points.
For the eighth time and the first since 2019 in Egypt, Uganda hopes to make it back to the Afcon finals.
