Jose Mourinho accuses Galatasaray of being a corrupt club
November 4, 2024
José Mourinho is making waves in Türkiye during his inaugural season with Fenerbahçe, and the Portuguese manager has just contributed another memorable moment to his collection. He might need to work on his knee slides.
In the closing moments of Fenerbahçe’s away match against Trabzonspor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Sunday, both teams were vying for victory with the score locked at 2-2.
As the match approached its end, a corner kick from Fenerbahçe resulted in Mourinho squad being denied a penalty that could have secured a comeback in the final seconds of the game. What appeared to be an obvious handball was not reviewed by VAR.
Sofyan Amrabat, a star from the 2022 World Cup and a former Manchester United player, however, made his presence felt for the visiting team by striking a pass from the box directly into the net at the penalty spot. Mourinho’s response? Nothing short of spectacular.
Moments after Amrabat’s goal, the portuguese manager sprinted onto the pitch and attempted a knee slide, only to get caught in the grass, which led him to flip into a hug with Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Dominik Livaković.
Following the match, the jubilant celebrations of the former Premier League manager carried on as the 61-year-old engaged with the home supporters on his way to the dressing room and delivered an impressive eight-minute post-match interview in which he expressed his frustration with the referee, VAR, and the league.
