Pep Guardiola signs new contract at Manchester City

Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola has agreed a new contract with Manchester City. Guardiola whose contract was running out in the summer of the current campaign has accepted to extend his contract by one year.

There were various rumors suggesting that this might be his final season in England. Some reports suggested that the club has even reached out to other managers such as Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen and Ruben Amorim who is now the head coach of City’s rivals, Manchester United.

Guardiola who has been with the Citizens since 2016 has so far won 18 titles with the club. These include a UEFA Champions League title, 6 Premier League titles including four that were consecutive a record in the English top flight league.

Manchester City have started this season poorly and are currently five points behind league leaders, Liverpool after match day 11. They resume their league campaign against Tottenham Hotspurs over the weekend.
