Express FC continue unbeaten run after beating Mbarara FC

Express FC achieved their fourth league victory with a 3-1 win against Mbarara City FC on Thursday night at Nakivubo Stadium. The Red Eagles continue to be unbeaten since Baker Mbowa’s departure.
Under the interim coaching of Badru Kaddu, the seven-time Uganda Premier League champions have recorded two wins and two draws in the four matches he has overseen.
Abdulahi Rashid Kawawa scored twice, while Sam Ssenyonjo added another goal for the hosts.
Seiri Arigumaho found the net for the Ankole Lions, marking their only goal in the match.
Kawawa opened the scoring for Express in the 21st minute, heading in a cross from Richard Basangwa.
The visitors equalized in the 37th minute when Seiri Arigumaho tapped in a cross from Joseph Kafumbe.
Kawawa completed his brace just three minutes later with a powerful long-range shot following a poor clearance from Mbarara City’s goalkeeper Abdul Kimera.
Ssenyonjo capped off the match for the home team with the final goal in the second half.
With this victory on Thursday, Express moves up to fourth place with 16 points, while Mbarara City stays in 10th place with 12 points.
