Ugandan forward Edrisa Lubega has signed a two-year deal with SpVgg Osterhofen, a German lower division team. Lubega had been a free agent since June after spending a short time in the Czech Republic with FK Pribram B.
His new team, SpVgg Osterhofen, competes in the Bezirksliga Ost, the seventh league of the German football pyramid. It should be mentioned that Lubega has lived in Germany for a while and is married to a woman from Lower Bavaria.
“My wife and I received a very warm welcome from the management. I was really impressed by their plans and future goals. I am eager to work towards achieving these objectives together in order to look forward to a successful future,” Lubega expressed after finalizing his transfer.
“From the initial conversations with sports director Marco Dellnitz, I felt at ease and understood that this was the right choice. I am already thrilled to contribute to the team,” he continued.
“The best moment in my professional career was definitely donning the national jersey for my country and transitioning to European football. Each stop has been significant for me, but my time in Austria at FAC Vienna and in the Czech Republic with Pribram were particularly enjoyable.”
Lubega was a member of the team that competed for Uganda in the 2016 CHAN tournament and has ten appearances for the Uganda Cranes.
He has represented the Portuguese team Estrela da Amadora, Proline in Uganda, Floridsdorfer AC and SV Ried in Austria, Paide Linnameeskond in Estonia, and FK Pribram.
The former Proline striker also disclosed that playing for the Uganda Cranes was the pinnacle of his career.
