Denis Omedi departs Kitara FC for Rwandan side

January 9, 2025

Ugandan footballers Denis Omedi and Hakim Kiwanuka have today officially signed for Rwanda Premier League outfit APR FC.

Omedi and Kiwanuka put pen to paper on a two-year deal each today and also watched APR’s League game against Marines FC in Gishenyi.

Omedi has long been the subject of transfer rumors, and Kitara FC Chairman Deo Kasozi acknowledged that the midfielder had more than five suitors. According to rumors, the forward finished moving to Singapore last month, but the deal fell through because the two sides couldn’t agree on the terms of the contract.

Omedi scored two goals throughout the campaign and played a key role in the Uganda Cranes’ qualification for AFCON 2025 on the national squad.

However, Kiwanuka has been extremely effective for SC Villa, which helped them win the Uganda Premier League the previous season.

It’s interesting to note that coach Paul Put selected the pair for the Uganda Cranes’ tentative team for CHAN 2024 this morning. As a result, their transfer to APR automatically disqualifies them from the competition.
