The Kenyatta International Convention Center in Nairobi, Kenya, hosted the African Nations Championship (CHAN) Draw on Wednesday. The draw was handled by East African luminaries Mrisho Ngasa of Tanzania, McDonald Mariga of Kenya, and Hassan Wasswa of Uganda.
Samson Adamu, the CAF Director of Competitions, joined them. In order to allow host nations Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania enough time to complete the facilities and infrastructure needed to hold a tournament of this size, the rescheduled event, which was originally set for February 1–28 of the same month, was moved to August 2025.
Co-hosts Kenya was selected for Group A, also known as the “group of death.” They faced off against Zambia, DR Congo, Morocco, and Angola.
Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic are all in group B. Uganda, which is competing for the seventh time in a row, is in group C with Guinea and Niger and will wait for the other two countries to qualify.
Senegal, the reigning champions, Congo, Sudan, and Nigeria are all in Group D. To identify the two teams that will advance as Q1 and Q2, Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, Malawi, Gambia, Gabon, and Comoros will compete in a qualification mini-tournament.
