Arsenal looking to replace striking crisis with Jesus

Arsenal’s January transfer window is less than two weeks long. After Mikel Arteta bemoaned his team’s current lack of depth, the Gunners are running out of time. The Spaniard emphasized the contrast between his club and Liverpool after the north Londoners failed to defeat Aston Villa this past weekend.

“I think when you look at the performances, I don’t know how many teams are playing at this level in the league,” said Arteta. “When you look at the bench you probably say, look at the bench, we are very, very short.”

According to Sport Witness and TV Play, Arsenal is preparing a bid for Marcus Thuram, the star of Inter Milan. Following the injuries to players like Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka, the Gunners are looking to bolster their attacking line.

Thuram has scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 26 appearances this season, making an impression for Inter. Although the Serie A team is reportedly cautious about a January trade, Arsenal is “ready to do something crazy” to get his signature.

Arsenal might therefore be better off in the summer than if they try to sign the 27-year-old right away.

The Gunners are reminded of how hard it is to work during the January transfer window, and it looks like further moves could be made in the summer to bolster Arteta’s hand.

The north London team is weighing their options as additions are now needed to support any hopes of winning the Premier League this season.

Unlike players like Benjamin Sesko, Jesus might be available this month if Arsenal decides to make a move. Earlier this month, RTI Esporte reported that Arsenal had previously had a proposal rejected.

Igor Jesus, a forward for Botafogo, is reportedly one of them. Since making his debut in October, the 23-year-old has scored one goal and received four caps for Brazil.
