Ahead of the second round of the 2024–2025 season, Express FC, the seven-time Uganda Premier League champions, are under investigation as the team struggles with salary concerns.
According to the players, they owe the club up to four months’ worth of unpaid salaries. Only seven players attended Thursday’s training, according to this website, and head coach Badru Kaddu and a few senior players failed to show up just a few days before the league competition resumed.
The situation at the club has reportedly gotten worse as a result of the management’s failure to provide players with training allowances.
Express FC has already experienced financial difficulties related to football; at the end of the previous season, the team faced comparable challenges.
With 25 points at the end of the first round of the 2024–25 UPL season, the Red Eagles were in third place. On Wednesday, February 12, they will play BUL FC in the opening round of the second round at Nakivubo Stadium.
