Liverpool dealt huge injury blow

Liverpool, Arsenal’s Premier League championship rivals, suffered a concerning injury setback in their FA Cup fourth-round matchup with Plymouth Argyle of the Championship. In an attempt to win the quadruple this season under Arne Slot, the Reds traveled to Holmes Park with the goal of moving on to the next round of the cup.

In the Carabao Cup final, Slot made ten changes from the team that crushed Tottenham on Thursday night, starting young players James McConnell and Trey Nyoni alongside players like Jarell Quansah and Federico Chiesa. Liverpool is currently leading the Premier League and is among the favorites to win the Champions League.

Joe Gomez made his defensive comeback for the first time since he hobbled off during the league victory against West Ham in late December. The 27-year-old’s comeback was brief, as he started at center-back with Quansah.

After needing medical attention on the field, he was ejected after just eleven minutes and Isaac Mabaya took his place. Gomez has recently battled several muscular problems, including one that kept him out of action in January due to a hamstring issue. Gomez’s injury occurs before the Merseyside derby against Everton on Wednesday night.

David Moyes’ team will be looking to maintain their strong Premier League performance and reduce the margin at the top of the table to just six points.
