SC Villa look to progress to the Stanbic Uganda Cup Quarter Finals

On Tuesday, SC Villa will travel to Lugazi FC at Lugazi Stadium in an attempt to advance to the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinals. In preparation for the World Cup qualifying matches against Mozambique and Guinea, the nine-time champions will be missing their star combo of Patrick Jonah Kakande and captain Ronald Ssekiganda, who are currently in Egypt with the Uganda Cranes national side.

On the other side, Lugazi FC will be strengthened by the return of defender Akiram Massa and winger Alvin Birungi Twine, although they will lose the services of their vice captain Nelson Mandela. This will just be the second time the two teams have met; the first was last year, when they drew 1-1 in the league at Wankulukuku.

In January, Lugazi FC defeated Big League team Calvary FC in the round of 32 after overcoming fourth division team Mayuge United 2-0 in the round of 64.

SC Villa advanced to the round of 16 by defeating Simba FC 1-0 in the round of 32 and crushing Seeta United 3-0 in the round of 64 of the Buganda regional league. In the absence of their key player Kakande, SC Villa will draw inspiration from midfielder Elvis Ngonde, veteran Sula Matovu, and league top scorer Charles Lwanga.
