Paris St Germain have been dealt a major blow ahead of their Ligue 1 and Champions League campaigns, with Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue both ruled out through injury.
Dembele will be sidelined for around six weeks after sustaining a hamstring problem, while Doue faces about four weeks out with a calf strain. Both players picked up their injuries during France’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Ukraine in Poland on Friday.
Dembele, who was substituted in the 81st minute, played a key role in PSG’s historic treble-winning season last year, scoring 35 goals and providing 16 assists across 53 matches. Doue was forced off at halftime in the same game and replaced by Dembele.
PSG confirmed the injuries in a statement on Saturday, with Dembele’s absence particularly concerning ahead of their Champions League title defense. The French champions host Lens on September 14 before taking on Atalanta three days later in Europe.
