Yesterday once again proved why football is the biggest sport in the entire world and why it’s more than just a game but a way of living for many people across the world.
This was as South American country Argentina walked away with the much coveted trophy after beating defending champions, France 4-2 on penalties.
After a thrilling encounter, that produced 6 goals across both sides after normal and extra time, the teams headed to the penalties.
Argentina’s Aston Villa goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez was the hero once again as he denied Kingsley Coman and saw Aurelien Tchouameni’s spotkick head out.
Argentina made no mistake from the spot as the captain, Lionel Messi who had bagged a brace during the match set them going with a simple cool penalty.
He was followed by Leandro Paredes, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Montiel.
As Argentina lifted the trophy, the world was ecstatic for Messi.
And the same case was for fans in Uganda who supported Argentina and Lionel Messi.
Socialite Sheilah Gashumba took to her Twitter page to reveal how her boyfriend will one day lead Uganda to World Cup glory.
She said that Rickman will become the president of FUFA and lead Uganda Cranes to the much coveted competition.
“One day
@RickmanManrick
will be the President of the Football federation and he will take Uganda to the World Cup!! No cap.”
It should be noted that Rickman had a stint in football playing in the Swedish second tier but it was unsuccessful before coming to Uganda.
He then tried to play for KCCA but couldn’t go further.
Rickman attributed all his woes to an ACL he suffered on the pitch.
