FUFA Big League side Police FC are one step away from going to this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup finals. This is after they narrowly edged Adjumani T/C by a goal to nil in the first leg.
The lone goal came as early as the 7th minute and was scored by Hassan Kikoyo at the Kavumba Recreational Grounds Police’s goal was a penalty after forward Herman Wasswa Nteza was fouled.
The Cops had more opportunities to further their lead but Wasswa and Denis Kalanz couldn’t bury their chances into the net.
Geoffrey Akena, the Adjumani coach is however confident his side is still much alive in the tie. And they will do everything to turn things around.
” Our target was a draw against Police which we haven’t achieved but the one goal margin is a fair result on our side. We can build from that and overturn the results at our home.”
The second leg will be played on Friday 26th May at the Paridi Stadium in Adjumani. Shift for both sides turns to the FUFA Big League that will end on Thursday 18th May, 2023.
Adjumani who are already relegated will be taking on Luweero United. Police who are seeking promotion to the Star Times Uganda Premier League for the 2023-24 season will host Jinja North.
