Vipers SC clinch the 2023 Uganda Cup to win their first historical double

Vipers SC 1-0 Police FC – Akibua Memorial Stadium, Lira.

Kitende based side Vipers SC defeated Police FC by 1 goal to nil to win the 2023 Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The results means, Vipers completed their domestic double having failed in the recent years of 2022 and 2018.

Captain Milton Karisa scored the lonely goal for Vipers SC.

In the 15th Minute of the first half, Karisa headed in a well delivered cross of Bright Anukani from a corner.

Police couldn’t fire back as they failed to penetrate through for an equaliser.

They only scoring chance came late through Tonny Kiwalazi but custodian Fabien Mutombora was ready for the first test.

Vipers had reached two consecutive Stanbic Uganda Cup finals but losing but this time they tried to erase the bad history.

Lat year, Vipers SC lost to BUL FC in the finals that were stationed in Masindi.

Vipers now join other Uganda clubs with a double including SC Villa (6 times), Express and KCCA.

Vipers winning the Uganda Cup means, KCCA FC will now represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup being that they finished Second in the league.
