Mikel Areteta delivers huge blow over Jurrien Timber’s injury
August 23, 2023
It seems like Dutch international Jurrien Timber’s season with Arsenal came to a crushing and devastating end. The former Ajax defender sustained an ACL injury in the opening game against Nottingham Forest.
Timber was already becoming a fan favorite, establishing himself as one of Mikel Arteta’s major players despite his early arrival. Now it seems like Timber will be out for the Gunners for the majority of the remaining games for the Gunners.
“Huge blow. Especially for him after just joining the club. To have the injury he has is a huge blow. We recruited him with clear intentions and what he was bringing to the team was evident, but he’s not going to be able to do it this season. We have to adapt. These things happen, unfortunately, and we have to move on,” said Arteta.
The Gunners will however be glad to have Ukrainian Olekasandr Zinchenko back. The former Manchester City man got some minutes in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Arsenal also expect Gabriel Jesus to be back before the international break. The other absentees are midfielder Mohammed Elneny who is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
