Rwanda pens another deal with European football giants

East African country, Rwanda has taken yet another great stride in its development after signing a 5 year partnership with a European footballing giant club.

The country announced that a 5 year deal was signed with German football giants Bayern Munich. This will be aimed at promoting tourism in the country.

The Bavarians will also set up a football academy in the “The ‘Land of a Thousand Hills.’ Furthermore, the Visit Rwanda logo will be appearing on the illuminated boards of the 75,000 Allianz Arena stadium.

“We are delighted to be partnering with FC Bayern to support the development of football for boys and girls in Rwanda. We are looking forward to creating the FC Bayern Academy where their expert coaches will be able to share their knowledge of the game with local coaches and players,” said Rwanda’s Minister of Sport, Aurore Mimosa Munyangaju, in the statement.

“Africa is a continent of opportunities. For FC Bayern, it is the next important step in our internationalisation,” said Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. 

It should be noted that Rwanda also signed a partnership deal with Arsenal in 2018 and PSG in 2019. Reports have it that these deals have generated about $160 million (€148 million).

These deals also have generated a worth of $445 million (€412 million) from tourism according to Clare Akamanzi.
