Startimes UPL: URA returns to winning ways as NEC, Kitara picks maximum points

URA FC 2-0 Gaddafi FC – Mehta Grounds, Lugazi.

NEC FC 5-0 Busoga United – MTN Omondi Stadium.

Kitara FC 1-0 UPDF FC – Masindi Stadium.

Four time Uganda Premier League Champions URA FC returned to winning ways after picking their first win in season 2023/2024.

URA overcame Gaddafi FC by a 2-0 score at their home ground Mehta Sports Grounds, Lugazi.

In their first league game, URA had played out a goalless draw with UPDF at Bombo Military Grounds.

Talisman Moses Aliro opened his account for URA in Uganda Premier League when he broke the deadlock in the 30th minute, thanks to a good delivery pass from teammate Hassan Kalega.

Defender Fesali doubled the lead for the tax collectors in the 57th minute after Gaddafi’s custodian Andrew Ssekandi failed to own his ball.

URA FC ‘s custodian Denis Otim had a busy day as Gaddafi FC tried to be a threatening side in the closing minutes, Otim was later named man of the match.

In other games, Hussein Mbalangu’s side NEC FC disciplined Busoga United with a 5-0 score at MTN Omondi Stadium.

Skipper Marvin Nyanzi scored a brace as Rashid Okocha, Brian Kayanja and Allan Mugalu all appeared once on the score sheet.

Kitara also defeated UPDF FC on a 1-0 score courtesy of an own goal from Christopher Kamagu in the 37th minute.

The results took NEC FC to the first place with 6 points, Kitara comes third with also 6 points while URA FC fourth with 4 points.

Express FC Vs Mbarara City FC – Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
