Brazilian footballer Neymar Junior has asked for support from friends and family following his heartbreaking injury against Uruguay in the CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Al Hilal forward was stretchered off as he suffered from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus in his left knee.
The 31 year old left the pitch in tears and it’s not clear how long he will be on the sidelines. Apparently he’s set to undergo surgery. This comes 4 months after recovering from an ankle surgery while he was still a PSG Player.
Taking to his social media pages, he said that despite being strong, he needs some support this time round.
“I know I’m strong but this time I’m going to need my family and friends even more.
“It’s not easy to go through injury and surgery. Imagine going through it all again after four months of recovery.”
Well this injury came in the 44th minute of Brazil’s 2-0 loss to Uruguay as he tussled for the ball with Nicolas de la Cruz. According to records, ACL’s usually take about 6 months to heal.
Therefore this man’s that his season with Al Hilal is over just after making 5 appearances and scoring once. His participation in next year’s Copa America which starts in June hangs in doubt.
Currently he’s receiving widespread support from fellow footballers and the general public. Among these is his best friend and Argentina captain Lionel Messi.
