Manchester City Vs Arsenal:- Injury News

March 28, 2024

On Sunday, Manchester City takes on Arsenal at the Etihad in a match that will decide the Premier League championship battle. However, important players must race to recover in time for the encounter.

The match between City and Arsenal is highly anticipated and significant because Arsenal leads Liverpool at the top of the rankings on goal differential while City is only one point behind. But both teams are unsure about their selections following an international break.

Man City’s problems on defense

The injuries sustained by John Stones and Kyle Walker while playing for the Three Lions dealt a double blow to City’s English defenders. Walker hobbled off with what was later reported to be a tight hamstring during the first half of Saturday’s loss to Brazil. It was first believed that the problem was not too significant, but on Wednesday it was revealed that he will be undergoing a scan and that his chances of playing against Arsenal are 50/50.

Stones’ circumstances, though, are less evident. England manager Gareth Southgate claimed during Tuesday’s draw with Belgium that the player had a groin adductor problem, but the City defender didn’t appear at ease when he had to make way nine minutes into the match. Later, he expressed uncertainty about his fitness to play against Arsenal to Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports News.

Manuel Akanji’s fitness is another problem in that backline that has surfaced in the last few days. He was forced to leave Switzerland’s team due to an injury. Considering that goalie Ederson is still sidelined due to a thigh issue, it is obvious that Pep Guardiola may need to make some changes this weekend.

Does City have any other worries?

Guardiola will be hoping that things look better further up the field, where Erling Haaland will be able to play twice for Norway after scaring his club by being seen hobbling during pre-intermission training. Oscar Bobb, a City teammate, participated in those matches as well and scored against the Czech Republic.

Kevin De Bruyne, another outstanding talent for City, may return as well. He suffered a groin injury that kept him out of the FA Cup match against Newcastle prior to the international break. Belgium did not call him up, but he may make a comeback after recovering.

Julian Alvarez from Argentina, who played Costa Rica in Los Angeles early on Wednesday morning, will take longer to return to City training.

Matheus Nunes, who scored for Portugal against Sweden, missed their second game due to what appeared to be an ankle injury.

How does Arsenal appear?

Important players for Arsenal must demonstrate their fitness before traveling to City. Due to a slight hamstring muscle issue, Bukayo Saka was precautionarily removed from the England team at the conclusion of last week. We’ll be hoping he can recover in time for Sunday. As a precaution, center-back Gabriel Magalhaes was also left out of the Brazilian national team lineup due to Achilles inflammation.

Gabriel Martinelli’s sliced foot at Sheffield United also prevented him from playing for Brazil. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Thomas Partey featured in a friendly behind closed doors, so they could be in contention, which was good news during the break.
