When KCCA FC hosts URA FC, the four-time league champions, in the opening game of the 2024–25 Uganda Premier League on Friday at Lugogo, they will be hoping for a strong start to the season.
The previous season, the Kasasiro Boys placed fifth, while URA FC, their opponents, placed eighth.
Throughout his whole tenure as head coach of the 13-time league champions, Abdallah Mubiru will aim to lead a competitive club.
“We want to start the league on a positive note as this gives you momentum. We have prepared well and hopefully the players can execute the things we have been working on during pre season. We will not have Usama Arafat as he is recovering from a knock he suffered in pre-season but the rest of the squad is available to represent the club.” Said Mubiru
Conversely, URA is currently led by Alex Isabirye Musongola, who previously led the team to their 2011 league championship.
The tax collectors are anticipated to contend for the championship this season, led by Isabirye, a serial winner.
The Kasasiro Boys prevailed 3-2 in their prior encounter between the two teams at Lugogo.
In the rematch, which took place at Wankulukuku’s Muteesa II Stadium, URA prevailed.
