David Obua will be named Lugazi FC’s next head coach on a one-year contract, according to reports coming in from credible sources.
Following his departure from URA FC in April of this year, the former Uganda Cranes player has been without a job.
Sadick Sempigi was fired by the team last week after Lugazi’s first season in the Premier League got off to a bad start. Obua, who holds a UEFA A diploma, takes his position.
Oliver Mbekeka became the club’s temporary coach after Sempigi was fired.
While serving as George Nsimbe’s assistant coach at Maroons FC, Obua managed Lango Province in the 2022 FUFA Drum.
On Tuesday, Lugazi FC will play seven-time Uganda Premier League winners Express FC under the floodlights of Nakivubo in an attempt to record their first victory in the top division.
After recording two draws and suffering three losses in their first five games of the season, they are currently at the bottom of the standings with just two points.
