The New York Red Bulls have revealed that Ugandan striker Frank Ssebufu will be leaving the team as a free agent due to the expiration of his contract.
Ssebufu is currently without a contract, and the club has decided not to take up the option for an extension.
The tall forward joined the team coached by Ibrahim Ssekagya in March 2022 after transferring from Uganda Premier League team Wakiso Giants.
The club has also stated that Ssebufu’s fellow countrymen, Ibrahim Kasule and Steven Sserwadda, are also without contracts, although discussions for extensions are ongoing.
Ssebufu made 55 appearances for New York Red Bulls II, netting 10 goals and contributing eight assists during his time with the club.
In the recently finished 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season, Ssebufu participated in 26 matches, scored one goal, and recorded four assists.
Sserwadda played in 24 league matches, scoring two goals and providing one assist, while Kasule took part in 23 league games, scoring seven goals and assisting three times.
