Struggling Mbale Heroes appoints Baker Mbowa as new head coach

Baker Mboowa has been confirmed as the new head coach of Mbale Heroes, a struggling team in the Uganda Premier League.

After Asaph Mwebaze was suspended in December, it was reported that Mboowa was in advanced talks with the club. Mbale Heroes formally announced their separation from Mwebaze, who had taken Richard Malinga’s place, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Since leaving Express FC after a loss against Lugazi FC early in the season in October, Mboowa has remained unemployed.

The Uganda Premier League’s struggling Mbale Heroes team has officially named Baker Mboowa as its new head coach. This magazine had reported that Mboowa was in advanced negotiations with the club following Asaph Mwebaze’s suspension in December.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Mbale Heroes formally declared their split from Mwebaze, who had replaced Richard Malinga. Mboowa hasn’t had a job since leaving Express FC in October following a defeat to Lugazi FC early in the season.

With just nine points at the end of the first round, Mbale Heroes were at the bottom of the Uganda Premier League standings. They managed to lose ten games, draw three, and win two.
