Neymar nearing return to Santos as he turns down Inter Miami
January 20, 2025
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Neymar has declined a reunion with Lionel Messi at Inter Milan in favor of going back to Santos. The Brazilian forward has not yet received a new contract with Al-Hilal, and his current one expires at the conclusion of this season.
Since joining the Saudi team in 2023, the player has only managed one goal and three assists in seven games, making his stint there a complete bust.
It appears that Al-Hilal has chosen not to register him for the second half of the season, which further suggests that his time with the team is nearing the end.
Neymar has been connected to a spectacular reunion with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami, which has increased uncertainty about his future. They formed the legendary ‘MSN’ trio at Barcelona, which spent three seasons torturing opposing defenses.
It now seems, though, that the Brazilian has declined a reunion with his old teammates in favor of going back to his alma institution. As he progressed through Santos’ levels, Neymar assisted them in winning the Copa Libertadores in 2011 for the first time in fifty years.
Before departing in 2013 to join the Catalans, he played 225 games across all competitions for the Brazilian club, tallying 136 goals and 64 assists. The 32-year-old is now scheduled to make a comeback to the Vila Belmiro.
Ahead of the FIFA World Cup in 2026, the Brazilian will now be hoping for a new beginning. In January, Santos made an offer to bring their former player back on a six-month loan.
In the meantime, Inter Miami’s deal with Lionel Messi expires in December of this year. Together, Neymar and Lionel Messi scored 67 goals while sharing the field 206 times for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The pair won three Copa del Reys, one Supercopa de Espana, two league titles, one Champions League, and one FIFA Club World Cup at Camp Nou.
