For the first time since the 2019 tournament in Egypt, the Uganda Cranes will make a comeback to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Final. Morocco will host the 35th edition of the continental extravaganza from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Uganda, three-time champion Nigeria, 2004 champion Tunisia, and Tanzania, a neighbor of Uganda in East Africa, are all in Group C. On December 23, Paul Put’s team will play 2004 winners Tunisia in the opening match of their AFCON 2025 group stage campaign.
The Cranes’ group stage campaign will conclude on December 30 against three-time competition winners Nigeria, after which they will play regional rivals Tanzania on December 27.
The Uganda Cranes will be participating in the competition for the ninth time; their best showing was in the 1978 edition, where they placed second to eventual winners Ghana. In contrast to Tunisia, who will compete in their 22 AFCON finals and having only won once, in 2004, Nigeria, who will be making their 21st appearance, has won the competition three times in 1980, 1994, and 2013.
