December 10, 2022

Morocco have knocked out Portugal to become the first African country ever to advance to the semi final stage of the FIFA World Cup.

The Atlas Lions found the back of the net through Sevilla striker Youseff En-Nesyri in the 42nd minute.

The forward who is now Morocco’s all time top scorer in the FIFA World Cup with 3 goals leapt high to power his header past Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

Morocco had several more chances to extend their lead but fell short in front of goal.

The Portuguese too had their chances but couldn’t convert them despite the introduction of Cristiano Ronaldo in the early minutes of the second half.

The win makes Morocco the first African Country to reach the semis of the World cup.

Morocco also haven’t conceded a goal in this world cup from the opposition apart from the own goal conceded against Canada.

They were also the first African country to top their group.

Morocco will now face the winner between France and England for the second semi final of the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.
